Best class depends on what you are trying to clear
Current release-era tier lists disagree at the top. That is useful information, not noise: a single global rank hides the difference between Boss Rush single-target damage, fast dungeon clearing, survivability and unlock cost.
Use this decision table before looking at any letter tier.
| Goal | Strong current direction | Why it fits | Main caution |
|---|---|---|---|
| Boss Rush single target | Cursed King / Sinister Trigger / strong ranged M1 setups | High sustained boss pressure | Requires endgame access or strong gear |
| Magic AoE / utility | Honored One / Great Mage style kits | Skill-based clear and control | More dependent on cooldown and magic scaling |
| Fast early farming | Boxer / Witch Gunner | Accessible, fast attack patterns | Not every early class scales equally into endgame |
| Mobility | Sinister Trigger / Jetstream-style kits | Easier repositioning and safer pressure | Mobility does not replace damage investment |
| New player | Best class you can actually build correctly | Correct stats + gear beats a badly built rare roll | Do not burn every spin chasing a screenshot tier list |

Why current tier lists disagree
Some rankings prioritize raw late-game ceiling. Others value how quickly a class clears mixed dungeon rooms. Others include acquisition difficulty. Those are different questions.
A better way to rank a class is with five axes:
- Single target — Boss Rush and elite damage
- AoE — room clear speed
- Mobility — repositioning and avoiding damage
- Survivability — defensive tools and sustain synergy
- Access cost — spin rarity, Boss Rush grind, Forge materials or progression chain
Use the Class Planner on this site to weight those axes for your own goal instead of treating one tier list as permanent truth.
Rarity is not the same thing as power
Release coverage shows Rare, Epic, Legendary, Mythic, Celestial and Exotic-style acquisition paths, but several strong classes are valued above rarer alternatives in practical clearing. Rarity tells you how hard something is to obtain; it does not fully tell you how efficiently it clears your target content.
What to keep while you chase an endgame class
Keep a class if it does three things for you:
- You understand its damage stat.
- It clears your current dungeon reliably.
- Its Aspect or gear supports the same playstyle.
A class that meets those conditions is a better bridge than constantly rerolling and resetting your build.
